One Dear Heart

In late August, the world lost a treasure and I lost a friend. Because I don’t read the local newspaper and rarely drive the half hour back home, I didn’t know it until late October, and ever since, I’ve been putting off sitting down to say all of this. I didn’t know about it when it happened; in fact, I didn’t know until the Monday following her death (when I read the horribly written, largely not factual, and damn near laughable obituary) that she had actually died on Thursday and not Friday.
