The Man in Black

I took these before. Before he went and danced his ass off. Before he had to try to salvage the evening because she was trying to do a number on him. Before he came home early knowing that they weren’t going to make it very much longer.

He was uncomfortable even asking her to go. Her family had money, and he didn’t even have the option to rent a tux. It ended badly a few weeks ago now, and none of us were sorry to see her go. She was too much drama, too high-maintenance. She’s still causing him problems at school, and although he tries to play it off as Crazy Girl Being Crazy, I know he feels it all.

He has heart, this boy. He gets it from his dad.
